Foundation Grants

Application Deadline: February 29, 2008

Purpose:

The purpose of the Institutional Development Grants made available through the CLC Foundation is to allow the pursuit of imaginative and innovative projects that support the college's mission, goals, and objectives. Any employee of the college is encouraged to submit proposals for:

  1. Short-term, innovative projects that would not otherwise be supported through institutional funds.
  2. Seed money to test an idea prior to applying for funds
  3. Completing preliminary work necessary prior to submitting a formal application to an outside funding source.

Types of Projects that Receive Funding:

Projects should be short-term , innovative , and be reflective of the college's goals and objectives for the current year.

Areas of Priority

The guidelines for institutional development grants indicate that priority will be given to projects in the following areas:

  1. Measurement and enhancement of student success.
  2. Programs and services to attract and retain diverse populations.
  3. Outreach programs for at-risk populations to better prepare them for college or the workplace.
  4. Exploration of alternative instructional delivery systems.
  5. Writing and critical thinking across the curriculum.
  6. International education.
  7. Gender or multicultural issues in the classroom.
  8. Environmental issues related to CLC .
  9. Student involvement in community service / volunteerism.

Grant Duration:

Grant projects may last from one month to 18 months maximum from the award date. Projects requiring 12 months or more will be required to submit a written status report by July 1 of each fiscal year. Identical projects will not be funded for more than two consecutive years.

General Information:

Projects that have previously been funded will not be reconsidered.

Projects that result in project assets or equipment becoming the personal property of the applicant will not be funded.

Proposals that include release time, overload pay, or stipends must be approved by the appropriate vice president prior to submission - even if funds for this purpose are not requested of the Foundation.

Proposals that require additional college resources that have not been pre-approved will not be funded.

Continuations and Extensions:

Continuations and extensions of funded proposals are not routine and are made, via written request, at the discretion of the committee, or the committee chair in conjunction with the staff liaison.
