Per Adjunct Union Contract 3.G - Adjunct faculty will not be compensated for attending programs, workshops, seminars, courses or meetings to meet federal, state or grant requirements under which an adjunct provides instruction. Check with Division office for guidelines.

Adjunct faculty currently under contract will be compensated $35/contact hour up to a maximum of 11 contact hours for the academic year (fall and spring semesters combined; no summer stipends). Please note that there are some TLETC classes that are not offered for faculty credit.

Communicating Effectively about Race will provide participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to productively and effectively navigate conversations and issues centered around race in Higher Education. In order to work efficiently and meaningfully towards reaching diversity iniatives in higher education such as narrowing the achievement gap or recruiting and retaining diverse faculty and staff, understanding the issues that are often time present when communicating about race become imperative to meeting such goals. Conversations and issues centered around race are becoming normalized in todays society and are making their ways into our hallways, classrooms, and meetings. The reality is that many of us are uncomfortable and under-prepared to talk about issues of race and diversity. Participants of this workshop will explore common roadblocks that exist when communicating about race and will examine tips and suggestions to navigating these conversations. This experiential workshop will expose Faculty to skills and knowledge that can guide them in working towards creating an equitable and inclusive campus that values racial justice and can work towards strengthening the interethnic/racial relationships.
